Description.

The shadow of the central gnomon measures the true summer time on the meridian of Moscow in terms that are valid for 2011. The shadow of the west gnomon measures the true time at the meridian of Moscow. The shadow of the east gnomon measures the azimuth of the sun in degrees of arc. To recalculate the true solar time into the mean time, the graph of the equation of time is etched on the dial.

The upper part of the pedestal is a fragment of a marble gravestone, which may have been made in the early 20th century or a bit earlier. The bottom part is made of limestone. At the bottom of the friezes, in Russian and Latin, the quotation by Ovid «Everything changes, nothing disappears» is carved out.
