Specifications.

The diameter is 1 foot (305 mm), the weight is 9.4 kg. Brass, engraving, casting, patina. Disc thickness of 14.5 mm. Within 150 km from Moscow the instrument allows you to record the true solar time with the precision of 5 minutes. To recalculate the true solar time into the mean time, the instrument has a detailed graph of the equation of time. 

 

Description.
The horizontal sundial delineated for geographical coordinates of Moscow is devoted to the 400th anniversary of the publication of the book by Simon Marius«Mundus Iovialis». The instrument is designed and manufactured in collaboration with Reinhold Kriegler, Reinhold Kriegler with the participation of The Society for  Simon Marius.  The languages of the labels are Latin and German. Fonts are identical to the books written by Simon Marius and published during his lifetime. Translation of the inscriptions are given below the drawing:

1. Three virgins are especially chosen because of the secret and successfully completed courtship from Jupiter: Io, the daughter of the river god Inachus; Callisto, daughter of Lycaon; Europe, the daughter of Agenor.
